Dream Belamy
Meet Belamy - a nine-year-old girl with an imagination as big as a whole world!
Don't be afraid to ask about Belamy's lauschies - she will give you all the deets!
You may be wondering, what is that she's wearing around her ears? She would tell you, "These are my lauschies [rhymes with "ow sheez"]. I need them to hear."
She was born deaf and has cochlear implants, but she wants you to know that her deafness is not a disability, but a superpower! She can tune out the noisy world whenever she wants. She can also listen to music beamed straight into her head via bluetooth - high tech!
Belamy is also special in another way... maybe it has something to do with her superpower, or maybe not... but I'll just tell you: She has a secret world of dreams hidden behind a drawing of a door in her bedroom...

Belamy meets a motley collection of dream characters on her adventures...
An astronomer who engineered a pair of flower wings so he could fly to his one true love - a fiery, faraway planet...

A plant creature from a forgotten nightmare...
A pair of gallivanting heroes, like straight out of a storybook...

Then came the Emperor Milo, and the whole world changed...

But the world is changing: every dream is starting to sprout new and unexpected trajectories, and the characters are growing to have minds of their own.
So what happens when one decides he's not happy being stuck in a dream anymore?
Enter the Emperor Milo: a power-hungry inventor who creates a machine that controls Belamy's sleeping mind, extracts dream creatures from her thoughts, and pulls her to his court each night...
He claims he just wants to be free to discover other lands for himself, but Belamy knows if she lets him go, he will try to conquer her whole world.
About the book...
Dream Belamy is a complete middle-grade fantasy novel that is as-yet unpublished. I am currently converting it into a graphic novel, with concept art by the wonderful Laura SaintCroix!
The character of Belamy is inspired by my daughter, Zoe, who has the same superpower, and an imagination as big as a whole world!
